Job Overview

Storm Guard Water Treatment Inc. provides cost-effective water treatment and dewatering solutions to meet the needs of our clients, which include several of the most prominent developer and general contractors in the Lower Mainland. Our offices are located in Richmond, BC and this full-time position would be based in this office. Over the past years our services have been used throughout the greater Vancouver area to successfully treat storm and run off water from construction sites, with discharge to streams, storm drains and sewer systems. Our process was developed from decades of experience in water treatment and environmental services.

Responsibilities for Accounting Manager

  • Perform the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, benefits administration, general ledger, financial report preparations.
  • Accounts receivable invoicing customers and collections and deposit to the bank
  • Accounts payable Processing invoices and payments (checks and wires) and responding to vendor queries. Processing PST and GST returns and remittances
  • Payroll and benefits administration. Process payroll (including time sheet entry) and remit statutory amounts including EHT and WCB. Prepare annual reconciliations for statutory remittances and issue T4's. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations
  • General ledger month end processes. Prepare journal entries and financial statements. Oversee integration of Core Con project results with Sage. Reconcile bank accounts.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end. Prepare audit work papers and respond to audit queries.
  • Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements. Maintain financial security by establishing internal controls.
  • Responsible for inventory accounting. Processing purchases and monthly consumption in Sage. Oversee periodic inventory counts and make appropriate adjustments based on physical count.
  • Maintain a fixed asset ledger for capital equipment. Update ledger for additions and disposals and record monthly depreciation.
  • Analyze financial results vs budget and variances at a job level and on a consolidated basis. Identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget. Build up revenue and cost by project.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze external financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
  • General office duties, including ordering office supplies, answering telephones as needed, dealing with suppliers of office equipment and supplies.

Qualifications for Accounting Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferably in project reporting or equipment rental business.
  • Thorough knowledge of ASPE.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization.
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge of SAGE and Core Con is preferred.
