Equipment Operator/Driver

Storm Guard provides cost-effective dewatering and water treatment solutions to meet client needs. We work with a variety of small and large-scale projects including Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver Convention Centre, and the Olympic Village. Over the past years our services have been used throughout the greater Vancouver area to successfully treat process and run off water from construction sites with discharge to streams, storm drains and sewer systems. Our process was developed from decades of experience in water treatment and environmental services. Our record of supplying these services to our customers speaks for itself. Above and beyond our own monitoring, our services have been favorably monitored by regulators, as well as by independent environmental Service contractors.

We are currently looking for an experienced and dependable individual to join our team as an Equipment Operator/Driver. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and has previous experience operating a variety of equipment including Excavators and Vac Trucks.


The duties listed below are examples of some of the work that Equipment Operator/Driver

  • Thorough knowledge of the methods and practices used in the safe operation of medium to heavy construction equipment is required.
  • Considerable independent judgement and action is required in effectively and safely operating a variety of equipment.
  • Confidently operate, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of dewatering and water treatment equipment] as assigned
  • Work with dewatering crew to dig mainline and work in close proximity to existing utilities
  • Read stakes and cut grade
  • Identify and report hazards on site
  • Clean and lubricate equipment, refill tanks, conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
  • Be a backup for the Vacuum Truck Operator
  • Situational physical and non-physical labour associated with the jobsite
  • Provide high-quality customer service to our external and internal customers.
  • Learn and understand HSE Manual, safety practices, safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work.

Personal Attributes & Traits:

  • Capable of learning and retaining knowledge pertaining to the practices, methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in the performance of maintenance work as assigned.
  • Can work with minimal supervision, follow instructions and provide feedback as required.
  • Comfortable exercising independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of the work.
  • Able to coordinate work assignments with other workers, divisions or departments.
  • Demonstrates leadership by example
  • Self-motivated with the ability to plan ahead


  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience operating heavy equipment such as an excavator.
  • A valid Class 1 BC driver's license. Must have and be willing to provide a clean driver's abstract.
  • Must be able to work in tight congested areas while utilizing spotters
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug & alcohol and fitness-for-work testing
  • Mechanical/trade certification preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience and/or a solid understanding of pumping systems and applications preferred.
  • Mechanical/ welding skills considered an asset.
